At Southern Roots Vegan Bakery, we create irresistibly delicious vegan cake donuts that bring together plant-based perfection and Southern charm.

Founded in 2018 by Marcus and Cara Pitts, a powerhouse couple driven by tradition and innovation, our Black- and woman-owned bakery in San Antonio is rewriting the rules of dessert. What started as Cara’s hobby of baking for family gatherings evolved into a mission inspired by Marcus’s plant-based lifestyle: to craft the best vegan desserts in America.

Our journey began with sharing our creations at church and local farmers' markets, where our gourmet vegan cake donuts quickly became community favorites. Today, these same donuts are loved nationwide—from Sprouts Farmers Markets to homes across the country.

We’re proud to have been recognized by VegNews as a nominee for "Best Vegan Bakery" and by PETA for our award-winning Sweet Potato Pie. And let’s not forget our showstopper: the Red Velvet cake donut, a rich and flavorful masterpiece that keeps customers coming back for more.
