For the third year in a row, Black Restaurant Week San Antonio or BRWSA, will showcase some of the best Black-owned eateries in San Antonio from Feb. 21-28. Thirty restaurants, food trucks, caterers and food-related businesses will feature specials during BRWSA.
Southern Roots Vegan Bakery is a proud participant of this event. To help the San Antonio community recover from the unprecedented winter storm that hit Texas the week right after Valentine’s Day, BRWSA eateries will donate $1 from every special to the San Antonio Food Bank.
Not only will you support a Black-owned business, but every $1 donated to the Food Bank provides seven meals to the those in need. In Bexar County (San Antonio), 1 in 4 children don’t know where they will find their next meal. To assist with BRWSA, Spurs legend Tim Duncan’s charitable foundation and the Spurs Give (charitable arm of the team) are corporate sponsors.
Order one of our Valentine Bundles beginning today through Feb. 28 and we will donate $1 to the Food Bank for each order.
Since so many businesses are still trying to get back on their feet from the storm that caused lengthy power and water outages, BRWSA will extend through March 7. During the second week, we will donate $1 from each order of an Assorted Dozen Donuts to the local food bank.
BRWSA was created in 2019 by Ryane Smith to spotlight Black-owned eateries. Its theme is “Cuisine, Culture & Community.” Two events BRWSA is highlighting are the Spring Gardening Workshop & Canned Food Drive on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 9 am to 11 am, and the inaugural Vegan Family Reunion on March 21 from 12 pm to 3 pm. Other vegan spots in San Antonio participating in BRWSA are Urban Soul, RootedVegan Cuisine, and Binge Kitchen. To see the full list, go here.
