Actor Kevin Hart Opens Quick Service Plant-Based Restaurant

on

Comedian and mega star Kevin Hart recently announced on Instagram that he’s opening two plant-based restaurants in Los Angeles starting later this summer.

Dubbed the Hart House - the menu will feature common favorites such as a deluxe crispy chicken sandwich, a kale crunch salad, double patty burgers (plant based) and oat milk shakes.

VegNews reported the Hart House will combine Kevin Hart and entrepreneur Andy Hooper, and chef Michael Salem who previously worked as the head of culinary innovation at Burger King and helped bring on the Impossible Whopper, a “defining moment in the plant-based shift currently happening in the fast-food industry.”

Hart House said on its website that it’s committed to the future of food by disrupting the quick-service industry with an affordable and flavorful alternative. It added "it’s ingredients are plant-based and REAL. No antibiotics, hormones, artificial colors, preservatives, or high-fructose corn syrup."

Hart, who says he’s not engulfed in the vegan lifestyle, is actually like many Americans who are choosing to eat plant-based or vegan the majority of the time but occasionally enjoy meat. Actually what's fueling the growth of the vegan and plant-based industry are carnivores who are looking for ways to reduce their meat consumption.

Hooper, formerly of Burger King, recently told Los Angeles Magazine, “If you were to just come out and say to folks, ‘Come to my vegan restaurant,’ automatically, there’s two thirds of the country that just won’t go because they’re thinking to themselves, ‘Oh, vegan food doesn’t taste as good as other food.’ I think it’s important for us to be a restaurant that first and foremost serves a crave-able product that people go out of their way to consume and then at the end we’re like, ‘Hey, by the way, this just happens to be all plant-based.'”

So if you are traveling to the LA area, check out the Hart House website to see if they are open.
